I enjoy Dr. Gupta's conversational style of writing; it makes the science easy to digest. The book gives an excellent overview of what we know about Covid and its origins, what we got right, and where mistakes were made. Most importantly, it outlines lessons we can take from our experience and how to maintain practical vigilance and prepare ourselves for the next one. Dr. Gupta delves into technical explanations only when necessary and where they add value to the conversation, and remains objective in his depictions of the political machinations that drove the pandemic response. He does get more passionate and partisan when recalling his own experience in delivering medical care - but overall, the book is well balanced and will hopefully be taken seriously by our decision-makers.
